Extent of corrosion damage for RC structures exposed to chloride-bearing environment

چکیده

In industrialized countries, most of the reinforced concrete (RC) structures and infrastructures have more than 40 years, since they were built around 1960 − 1980, designed for a service life 50 years. Consequently, in next number infrastructuresthat will need to be repaired steeply increase. Several techniques, characterized by different durability, environmental impact economic impact, are available repair structure damaged corrosion reinforcement. To help designers choice suitable one, preliminary assessment condition is essential, aimed at diagnosing causes deterioration, extent damage, i.e. corroding reinforcement, its evolution time. An approach, with wide consensus, evaluation reinforcement carbonation-induced corrosion, whilst it still lacking forchloride-induced corrosion. this paper two approaches RC subject chloride-induced presented compared, showing similar results. These can useful properly plan restoration intervention as well assess reliability recently proposed model design.

assessment of the park- ang damage index for performance levels of rc moment resisting frames

Probabilistic evaluation of the sustainability of maintenance strategies for RC structures exposed to chloride ingress

Nowadays, multiple constraints imposed by economical, social and environmental considerations undergo maintenance planning optimization into a major challenge to designers, owners and users of infrastructure. This study presents a simplified methodology to evaluate the sustainability of maintenance strategies used in reinforced concrete structures exposed to chlorides. The proposed approach is ...

Corrosion Resistance of Calcium Aluminate Cement Concrete Exposed to a Chloride Environment

The present study concerns a development of calcium aluminate cement (CAC) concrete to enhance the durability against an externally chemically aggressive environment, in particular, chloride-induced corrosion. To evaluate the inhibition effect and concrete properties, CAC was partially mixed with ordinary Portland cement (OPC), ranging from 5% to 15%, as a binder. As a result, it was found that...

Comparisons on Reinforcing Bar Corrosion Models of RC Structures in Marine Environment

In marine environment, the physical and mechanical performances of reinforced concrete members will vary distinctly with time, which reduces the safety of the structures. The main factors influencing the durability of reinforced concrete members include the deterioration of concrete, the reduction of reinforcing bar strength, the decrease of reinforcing bar area, the weakening of the bond stren...

Maintenance for Repaired RC Column Exposed to Chloride Attack Based on Probability Distribution of Service Life

Chloride attack is one of the most critical deterioration due to rapid corrosion initiation and propagation which can cause structural safety problem. Extended service life through repairing is very important for determination of maintenance strategy. Conventionally adopted models for estimation of life cycle cost have shown step-shaped elevation of cost, however the extension of service life i...
